The Restaurant

A room that takes in the landscape

The place

The restaurant has an indoor dining room and a terrace overlooking the mouth of the Tiber. The room blurs the line between inside and outside, and takes the landscape in as part of the meal. The setting is spare, well kept and contemporary.

At the table the pace is unhurried. Time stretches out, the service is attentive and precise, never intrusive. A place people come back to because they feel at ease.

Since 1956

In 1954 Gina left Trastevere for Fiumicino and opened “La Spacca” on Via Torre Clementina — named after the fork in the road. She cooked, Amedeo ran the room. In a place given over to meat, she chose fish: a passion inherited from her parents, who ran an osteria in Fiumicino called “l’Incannucciata”. Two years later the restaurant took her name — “Gina Hostaria del Porto”, to everyone simply “Gina al Porto” — in larger rooms on the Fiumicino dock. Within a few years her dishes had become a draw for Romans and for the whole coast.

In 2004 the restaurant moved to the Marina Resort Porto Romano, on the mouth of the Tiber, and became Gina a Porto Romano. It is run today by two generations working side by side: Daniele and Donatella with Cristina, and the third generation — Marco, Martina and Allegra.

The kitchen

Traditional, classic cooking built on excellent raw material, with plain and honest flavours.

Dishes come from the meeting of flavour, raw material and tradition. The preparations follow the same principle: a few essential steps, carried out with care. The menu sets the classics alongside the dishes of the day, which depend on what the catch actually offers.

Sourcing

What the catch offers

Local catch from the ports of Lazio, a seasonal menu, historic recipes alongside new ones.

Gina a Porto Romano is part of Periferia Iodata, a non-profit association founded in December 2021 that brings together restaurateurs and producers of the Fiumicino area, working to promote and protect the authentic flavours of the territory. Marco Fiorucci is a founding member and has been its president since 2023.
